Piper Double Glazing Ltd is a family owned company based in Ramsgate, Kent, UK. A large fabricator and installer of PVCu windows, doors and conservatories, the company specialises in extensive commercial contracts with housing authorities, local authorities, schools and domestic applications.
All of its windows are Document L compliant and are manufactured and certified to ISO 9002 quality. The range includes vertical sliders, tilt/turn and casement windows, to name but a few. In terms of the volume manufactured, Piper is possibly one of the top 10 fabricators in the UK, using the renowned Veka Matrix profile.
The company recently increased its manufacturing premises to 75,000 square feet, part of which allowed the company to install a composite door production facility.
Piper has spent the last year investing heavily in research and development of a composite door, the Armourdoor, which is manufactured on site.
This twin-seal composite unit has an authentic grained appearance available in a number of colours with no need for onsite painting, varnishing or finishing. The GRP door surface possesses a deeply entrenched grain that is almost indistinguishable from genuine timber. Within the range is a fire door version that has already excelled in its performance tests and installation.
The bespoke nature of the Armourdoor offers a wide range of sizes, colours and glazing options. All doors are covered by a 10 year guarantee and having been tested in accordance with PAS23 and PAS24 the sealed units in the glazed versions conform to BS6206.
Piper has won major partnering projects this year with Hackney Borough Council in London, Banbury Homes in Oxfordshire and the Southern Housing Group. The company’s core business has always centred on the manufacture and installation of PVCu windows and doors, with local authorities, health authorities, housing associations, defence establishments and other commercial organisations.
Operating in these sectors has utilised Pipers’ skills and expertise in multi-site construction and refurbishment programmes all over Britain.
Investment of over £1.2 million in brand new state-of-the-art machinery to streamline productivity has increased flexibility in manufacture and allowed smoother throughput to ensure deadlines can always be met.
The Piper philosophy has always been to invest in the infrastructure of the company and recognise that people investment is key for a successful business. The company supports an extensive range of training schemes and professional qualifications for its entire workforce. Offering the opportunity to train employees is paramount and there are full training programmes to offer all 160 employees.
